Prime Minister Narendra Modi was given a traditional welcome in George Town. The Prime Minister was given a guard of honour. Let us tell you that this is the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Guyana in 56 years. A meeting took place between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Guyana President Dr. Mohammed Irfan Ali. During the talks, the two leaders reviewed the developmental cooperation between their countries. This includes cooperation in areas such as skill development, capacity building, agro-pharmaceuticals, education and energy.

After this, delegation level talks were held between the two countries in George Town under the leadership of both the leaders. Various issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed in it. After this, agreements were signed between the two countries. India and Guyana have signed 10 agreements to enhance cooperation in health, hydrocarbons, agriculture and other sectors. An MOU was signed on cooperation in the field of medical products, Jan Aushadhi Scheme, cultural exchange, implementing the UPI system in Guyana and broadcasting between Prasar Bharati and the National Communication Network of Guyana.
Prime Minister's address
The Prime Minister said that he has identified several new initiatives to strengthen mutual cooperation. We will continue to make efforts to increase our mutual trade and economic cooperation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he also discussed many global and regional issues in the meeting. India and Guyana agree that all problems should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.
The Prime Minister said that the people who came here from India have laid the foundation of our relations. Today, people of the Indian community have an important contribution in the development of Guyana. A cultural exchange agreement has been agreed between the two countries till 2027. After this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Guyana President Irfan Ali also planted a sapling in George Town under the Ek Pedre Maa Ke Naam initiative.

Second India CARICOM Summit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 2nd India CARICOM Summit in Georgetown, Guyana. In the inaugural speech of the conference, the Prime Minister said that this summit is being held after 5 years and in these five years many changes have been seen in the world. During this period, humanity has had to face many great difficulties. Which has badly affected the countries of the Global South. The Prime Minister expressed grief on behalf of the people of India over the damage caused by Hurricane Beryl in the Caribbean region.
The Prime Minister said that India is moving forward as a reliable partner with CARICOM member countries. India is contributing to the capacity building of CARICOM countries through scholarships, training and technical assistance. He proposed to increase the ITech scholarship given by India by 1000 slots for the next five years.
The Prime Minister suggested working together for clean energy, climate change and use of new technology in the agriculture sector. Also proposed to adopt UPI made in India and work together.
The Prime Minister said that using space technology, we can work together in areas like resource mapping, climate studies and agriculture in CARICOM countries. He said that to put the shared cultural heritage on the world stage, Days of Indian Culture can be organized in CARICOM countries next year. The Prime Minister thanked Guyana President Mohammed Irfan Ali for hosting the summit. Heads of government and foreign ministers of member countries participated in the summit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi met leaders of Caribbean countries in George Town on the sidelines of the second India CARICOM Summit.

Prime Minister's honor
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded Guyana's highest national honor, The Order of Excellence. He was awarded this honor for his visionary leadership in advocating for the rights of developing countries in global forums, exceptional service to the global community and commitment to strengthening India-Guyana relations. The Prime Minister dedicated the award to the people of India and the deep historical ties between the people of the two countries. The Prime Minister said that his official visit to Guyana is a reflection of his commitment to deepen the friendship between the two countries.The Prime Minister said that India-Guyana relations are based on shared historical cultural heritage and mutual trust. India is ready to work shoulder to shoulder with Guyana in every field.

Prime Minister Modi Received Dominica Award of Honor
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also honored with the Dominica Award of Honor. The Prime Minister thanked the President of Dominica, Sylvania Burton, for this honour. India and Dominica are two democracies. Together we both are role models of women empowerment for the entire world. Both countries have female presidents. Indian President Honorable Murmu ji is the first President to come from the tribal community. Similarly, President Burton is also the first indigenous President of Dominica. Both of you are a source of inspiration for the women of the world. She said that this award is dedicated to the people of India, it is also a symbol of the unbreakable bond between our countries.
