The eyes of the whole world were on Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. There is a valid reason for this also. 20 major and emerging economies of the world came together in Rio de Janeiro to discuss global issues. India is an important member of the G-20. On Prime Minister Narendra Modi's arrival at the G-20 summit, Brazilian President Lula da Silva warmly welcomed him. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude to the President of Brazil for this honor.

Prime Minister's address to the G-20 summit

The Prime Minister first congratulated President Lula for the grand organization of the G-20 Summit and his successful chairmanship of the G-20. He said that the people-centric decisions taken during the G-20 Summit in New Delhi have been taken forward during Brazil's Chairmanship. It is a matter of great satisfaction that the Sustainable Development Goals have been given priority. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the inaugural session of the G-20 summit on social inclusion and the fight against hunger and poverty. The Prime Minister emphasized that India's G-20 presidency's call for One Earth, One Family, One Future resonated in the talks in Rio.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that inclusive growth focuses on women-led development and youth power. It has also worked to give wings to the hopes and aspirations of the countries of the Global South. He made it clear that One Earth, One Family, One Future is as relevant at this summit as it was last year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned India's commitment against hunger and poverty. He shared information about India's decisive fight against hunger and poverty. The Prime Minister told how India has drawn a new line of change. India has lifted 250 million people out of poverty in the last 10 years. More than 800 million people are being given free food. 550 million people are benefiting from the world's largest health insurance scheme. Now 60 million senior citizens above 70 years of age will also be able to avail free health insurance.

The Prime Minister said that with its focus on women-led development and social inclusion, more than 300 million women entrepreneurs in the micro sector have been linked to banks and provided access to credit. Under the world's largest crop insurance scheme, more than 40 million farmers have received benefits worth  $20 billion. Under the Kisan Yojana, more than $40 billion in assistance has been provided to 110 million farmers. Institutional loans worth  $300 billion are being given to farmers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared India's experiences and successes regarding the theme of the first session. The Prime Minister also shared the changes made for every class in India. The Prime Minister said that India is not only ensuring food security but is also focusing on nutrition. Saksham Anganwadi and Nutrition 2.0 campaign, which is an integrated nutrition support program. Focuses specifically on nutrition of pregnant women, newborns, children under 6 years of age and adolescent girls. Special attention is being given to the nutritional needs of school going children through the Midday Meal Scheme. Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed Brazil's initiative to establish a global coalition against hunger and poverty. Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised the issue of Global South in front of global leaders. In the G20 conference, the Prime Minister clearly said that the Global South cannot be ignored. No discussion can be considered successful unless the problems of the region are taken into consideration. He said that everyone has to understand the pain of the Global South.

The Prime Minister said that the food, fuel and fertilizer crisis caused by global conflicts has had the most adverse impact on the countries of the Global South, hence the discussion can be successful only then. When taking into account the challenges and priorities of countries in the Global South. Just as everyone strengthened the voice of the Global South by granting permanent membership of the G-20 to the African Union during the New Delhi Summit. Similarly, we will also improve the institutions of global governance. Prime Minister Narendra Modi not only put forward India's vision among the world's top leaders, but also proved that no global policy can be made without listening to India.

The G-20 countries have adopted the Rio de Janeiro Declaration at their 19th summit in Brazil. The manifesto calls for initiatives to end climate change, the war in Ukraine and West Asia. The purpose of the declaration is to address the world's major challenges and promote sustainable and inclusive development. The manifesto appeals to expand the Security Council to include areas and groups that are still deprived of representation in the Council. Every form of terrorism has been condemned in the manifesto. Expressing concern over the situation in the Gaza Patti and the escalating conflict in Lebanon, the declaration said there is an urgent need to increase the protection of civilians and humanitarian assistance. An appeal has also been made to find peaceful solutions to all conflicts through dialogue. The declaration also reiterates the resolve to promote multilateral-ism, especially in the context of the United Nations Climate Change Framework and the Paris Agreement.

On the sidelines of the G-20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met top leaders of various countries and discussed various issues to strengthen mutual relations.
