Why was Ratan Tata's funeral not conducted according to Parsi religion?

Ratan Tata's funeral was conducted according to the tradition of which religion?

Today, along with all of you, we will say Tata-Vaay to this Ratna of India for the last time but today we want to start our analysis with one thought and that is, when a human being is born, he has breaths but no name and when a human being dies, he has a name but no breaths and the journey between these breaths and name is what we call life and today Ratan Tata too, after completing this journey of his, said goodbye to this world forever, that is, said Tata-Vaay forever.

Tata Group Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata died at 86.

Ratan Tata himself once said that a human being is just like the recharge of a mobile phone which expires after its validity but we and this whole country want to tell him that the validity of Ratan Tata will never end and he will always rule the hearts of crores of people of this country and will always remain alive in their hearts.

When Ratan Tata's body was brought to the National Centre in Nariman Point in Mumbai, his body was wrapped in the Indian tricolour and he was given a final farewell with full state honours and from this you can understand that Ratan Tata was India's precious gem. Leaders of almost all political parties, big industrialists, celebrities and common people paid their last respects to Ratan Tata in Mumbai and gave him a final farewell.

During this time, these pictures made the eyes of the whole country moist. These pictures are of Ratan Tata's pet dog who kept sitting with the mortal remains of Ratan Tata during the last rites and imagine, this speechless creature cannot speak but it was so saddened by the death of Ratan Tata that it did not even move from near his mortal remains, did not want to leave him, kept paying its respects to him and from this you can understand how unbreakable the relationship of Ratan Tata must have been with these speechless creatures.

A 31-year-old youth was riding his bike in front of the vehicle in which Ratan Tata's body was taken to the crematorium and this youth was none other than Ratan Tata's personal assistant Shantan Naidu. 86-year-old Ratan Tata never married but he had a very deep relationship with Shantan Naidu.

Ratan Tata was a Parsi and the process of last rites in Parsi religion is called Dakhma or Tower of Silence. In Parsi religion, there is a tradition of burying the dead body in the sky after death, for which the dead body is kept in the Tower of Silence at a place where there is sky above and on the other side there are carnivorous birds and vultures and when these vultures eat the flesh of that dead body, then the last rites of a person are considered complete. In the year 2018, a total of 720 people of Parsi religion died in Mumbai, out of which 647 people were cremated according to this Dakhma tradition.

Ratan Tata himself was a Parsi but his last rites were performed by cremation as is done in Hinduism. First of all, Ratan Tata's body was kept in the prayer room, after this, according to the Parsi religion, Geh Saran was read on his body and later, Parsi religion was followed in other funeral procedures as well, but in the end, instead of Dakhma, his body was cremated electronically through cremation and that is why today people are also asking why Ratan Tata's last rites were not performed as per the Dakhma tradition of the Parsi religion, the reason for this is that since the number of vultures has decreased a lot, since then, in the Parsi religion, last rites are being performed in three ways, out of which the first funeral is called Dakhma in which vultures eat the flesh of the dead body and then cremate it. Secondly, in Parsi religion too, the bodies are buried and the funeral of former Tata Group chairman JRD Tata also took place in this manner and his body was buried in France along with the graves of his parents and brother and the third method is cremation and Ratan Tata's funeral also took place in this manner.

Ratan Tata kept the standards of his life so high that it is not easy for anyone to reach this Mount Everest of principles. There have been many big industrialists all over the world. Each one of them is very successful and has built big companies worth lakhs of crores of rupees but the way Ratan Tata ruled the hearts of the common people of India is completely different and new. Today, when industrialists are often criticized in our country like politicians, it is said that industrialists only know how to earn money, then Ratan Tata's personality was such that every Indian liked him from the heart and it is very rare that a person does not have any critics even while he is alive and Ratan Tata was one of them. In our country, if you take any successful person in any field from politics to sports to films, it is very rare when someone is not criticized. There is definitely some criticism but there are a handful of people whose criticism is almost negligible and Ratan Tata was one of them.

Many of you may not know that the relationship between JRD Tata and Ratan Tata was not that of a father and son. The founder of Tata Group was Jamshed Ji Tata who had two children, the first son's name was Dorab Ji Tata and the second son's name was Ratan Ji Tata. Ratan Ji Tata died at a very young age, after which his wife adopted a child from a Parsi orphanage in Bombay and named him Naval Tata and Naval Tata had two marriages, in which he had two sons from his first wife, the elder son's name was Ratan Naval Tata and this was the same Ratan Naval Tata who has said goodbye to all of us today. Ratan Tata was appointed the chairman of Tata Group in the year 1991 and before him JRD Tata whose full name was Jahangir Ratan Ji Dada Bhai Tata. He was the chairman of the Tata Group and very few people know that JRD Tata's grandfather was the brother of the mother of Tata Group founder Jamshedji Tata and those who think that Ratan Tata was the son of GRD Tata are actually wrong. Ratan Tata's father was adopted from a Parsi orphanage by the wife of Jamshedji Tata's son Ratanji Tata and after this, due to his talent, Ratan Tata became the successor of GRD Tata in the Tata Group and he worked as the chairman of the Tata Group for 21 years between 1991 and 2012 and later he became the honorary chairman, that is, he left this post long ago.

Ratan Tata was very humble along with being talented. The thing that you can learn from him today, the special thing about him, which is different, is that despite being on such a big post and being so successful, he was humble. Being such a big industrialist. He was honest and disciplined and his biggest asset was his simplicity. Ratan Tata used to say that money should not be kept in the mind but in the pocket and life should be lived with simplicity because there is no greater capital than simplicity.

When Ratan Tata was only 10 years old, his parents got separated after divorce and after this, Ratan Tata was completely raised by his grandmother Nawaz Bai Tata. Ratan Tata himself once told that at that time his grandmother used to have a Rolls Royce car and this car would definitely come to school every day to bring him home from school, but at that time Ratan Tata used to make some excuse and instead of going home in this expensive and luxurious car, he preferred to go to his house on foot like other children and he used to feel very ashamed to sit in this car because he liked simplicity and he felt that if he would leave the school sitting in such an expensive car, people would see him and who knows what they would think about him and later this simplicity became his identity.

Even today, when Ratan Tata is not among us, people do not talk about his property, how much money he had, what was his net worth. We are not talking about this but about his simplicity and his behavior. People who trusted him used to talk about that trust and his life journey. Today when we are talking about Ratan Tata's life, you will feel as if you have come to a classroom of life and you are reading about Ratan Tata and you will think that how much can be learned from Ratan Tata's life. His whole life is like a school classroom. It is said that no matter how many good deeds you do in life, you will get praise only in the crematorium and this is also true. This happens with most of the people, no matter how many good deeds you do in life, you get praise only in the crematorium. Praise is received only after death but when we look at Ratan Tata's life, he looks like an exception and it is known from his life that even when he was alive, he was only praised and even today after his death, people are not tired of praising him, this is a completely different thing. It is true that whoever has come has to go and it is also true that a person comes to this world with his fists clenched and leaves this world empty-handed but there are some people like Ratan Tata who remain alive as an example in the minds of people even after their death and become immortal forever. The biggest quality of Ratan Tata was that he always kept ego away from himself and considered his employees as a part of his family. The simplicity and humility of Ratan Tata is surprising to everyone and many times people used to ask him whether this is really the same Ratan Tata whose companies' total net worth is more than the total economy of a country like Pakistan. It is said that the biggest donor is a miser because he leaves all his wealth for others but Ratan Tata was an exception in this case too. Ratan Tata was not just an industrialist but he was an industrialist of common people who understood his responsibilities towards the society along with business very well. Tata Trust has a 66% share in the Tata Group which means that even today 66% of the total profit of Tata Group goes to Tata Trust and through this donation, the common people of the country are helped and today India may be at the 11th position in the list of the richest people in the world but according to research, Tata Group is at the first place among the biggest donors in the world.

Jamshedji Tata had donated Rs 760000 while Ratan Tata also continued his responsibility towards the society and during the time of Covid, he donated Rs 1.5 thousand crores to the PM Cares Fund. Ratan Tata believed that money is not just for earning but also for the welfare of others and this is the reason that when the total net worth of Tata Group was 34 lakh crores, even then Ratan Tata was far behind in the list of richest people of India at number 421 and the reason for this is that whatever he earned, he spent a large part of it on the welfare of the society and the common people. He never wanted to be at number one in the list of richest people, did not want to be in the first five, did not want to be in the first 10. He also had a lot of money. You must have seen that nowadays in the list of industrialists that there is a lot of competition among the people as to who will be in the top three in the list of richest industrialists, who will be in the top five and people watch it very carefully but Ratan Tata himself never joined this race. The biggest thing is that Ratan Tata used to stay connected with people like a tree stays connected with its roots and you can understand this from the story of this person whose name is Vikas Tyagi. At the time of Covid, when many people were being fired from Tata Group companies, Vikas Tyagi also lost his job, but at that time his 11-year-old daughter called Ratan Tata on his landline number and asked him not to fire her father, and after this, Ratan Tata got Vikas Tyagi's job termination letter cancelled, and today, remembering this, when Vikas Tyagi was looking at Ratan Tata's dead body, his eyes were brimming with tears and his words were that people like Ratan Tata are born once in centuries.
