Following this, a crowd of media bloggers gathered at Mithlesh's house, and he quickly became a social media sensation. In fact, songs titled "Fake IPS" were even created in Bhojpuri cinema, with Mithlesh himself acting in one of them.

Amid all this, the police began an investigation, which turned the entire narrative on its head. The inquiry revealed that Mithlesh Kumar's entire story was fabricated. Before diving into what else the police uncovered during the investigation, it's essential to understand the story Mithlesh presented to the police, as it will help you grasp the full context of the case.

The Story Narrated by Mithilesh Kumar in Front of the Police

According to a report by Aaj Tak reporter Rakesh Kumar Singh, on September 20, a man wearing an IPS uniform was spotted standing at a breakfast shop in the Sikandra police station area. His appearance raised suspicion among the locals, who informed the police. The police subsequently brought the impersonator, Mithilesh Kumar, to the station. During interrogation, 18-year-old Mithilesh revealed that he had only completed 10th grade and was a resident of Govardhan Bigha village in the Lakhisarai district.

He explained that one day he went to bathe in a pond, where he met a man named Manoj Singh from Khaira village. Manoj claimed that someone had died and promised to secure him a job in the police in exchange for ₹2 lakhs. After hearing Mithilesh’s story, the police suspected that he might have been a victim of fraud himself, so they released him on bail after having him sign a bond.

The police then began an investigation, looking for the character Manoj Singh from Mithilesh’s account. They found four individuals named Manoj Singh in Khaira village and presented them to Mithilesh for identification. However, he did not recognize any of them as the person who had defrauded him.

Next, the police checked Mithilesh's mobile number to verify his location. It was revealed that on the day he claimed to have met Manoj Singh in Khaira, he was actually in Lakhisarai. Furthermore, Mithilesh mentioned borrowing ₹2 lakhs from his uncle to pay Manoj Singh, but his uncle denied ever giving him money. Additionally, the two phone numbers Mithilesh provided for Manoj turned out to belong to his relatives. Overall, the investigation found that Mithilesh's entire account was fabricated.

What did SDOP Satish Suman from Jamui say?

SDOP Satish Suman stated that during the interrogation, Mithilesh provided two phone numbers, claiming they belonged to Manoj Singh. However, upon verification, the police found both numbers to be inactive. Thus far, the investigation has not yielded any beneficial leads regarding any individual named Manoj Singh. Mithilesh has been released on bond under Section 353 of the Indian Citizens Security Code, but if further investigation into the case requires it, and if he violates any conditions of Section 353, the police may take him into custody.
