Govinda Gun Shoot News
On the morning of October 1, Bollywood star Govinda made headlines after reports emerged that he had been shot. The incident occurred when his licensed revolver accidentally discharged while he was storing it in a cupboard, resulting in a bullet hitting his leg.
The full story behind the incident has now come to light. The event, which took place early on Tuesday, caused concern among his fans. Govinda underwent surgery at a private hospital in Andheri to remove the bullet from his leg. From the ICU, he expressed his gratitude to the doctors and fans through an audio message.
According to sources reported by Aaj Tak, the mishap happened while Govinda was preparing to fly to Kolkata, where his wife, Sunita, was already present. He was scheduled to leave for Kolkata on a flight at 5:45 AM and planned to leave home by 4:30 AM.
Sources indicate that before heading out, Govinda opened a cupboard to place a suitcase inside. During this process, the licensed revolver he kept there fell, and due to a faulty lock, it misfired, injuring his knee. His bodyguard, who was outside the house, quickly transported him to the hospital.
Mumbai Police's Statement
According to reports, the Mumbai police took possession of the revolver immediately following the incident for investigation. They confirmed that the revolver had six bullets loaded, one of which misfired. During their investigation, the police matched the revolver and license numbers and found that the license was valid.
The police stated that Govinda’s revolver was a .32 bore, and it was quite old. They also noted that a small part of the lock was broken. Govinda had intended to buy a new revolver, but the accident occurred before he could do so.
Govinda to be Discharged in 48 Hours
Shiv Sena leader Deepak Sawant also visited Govinda at the hospital. Afterward, he reassured fans, stating, “I want to tell all his fans that Govinda ji is completely fine; there’s no need to worry. This was an accidental injury, and he will be discharged in 48 hours. The doctors have done an excellent job.”
Govinda was one of the biggest stars in Bollywood during the 90s, known for his iconic roles in comedy films like "Dulhe Raja," "Hero No. 1," and "Coolie No. 1." He made a return to politics earlier this year, joining the Shiv Sena party led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in March.
